Brooklyn’s MADE OUT OF BABIES sign to THE END RECORDS
Rapidly gaining notoriety for producing some of the most original, emotionally charged music, the band is set to release their most explosive album to date: The Ruiner.
"The Ruiner is drastically different from our other releases (Trophy, 2005 and Coward, 2006, Neurot Recordings)," relates the band. "From start to finish, creating this album has involved exploring new, and sometimes unusual, methods of collaborating, writing and recording."
Guitarist Brendan Tobin built his own studio where the band spent months writing and demoing new material. When accomplishing new writing goals began to require more hours than there are in any given day, an unorthodox schedule began to unfold. Brendan Tobin (guitar), Cooper (bass) and Matthew Egan (drums) wrote and demoed songs part of the week. Tobin and singer Julie Christmas met separately to work on vocals.
The decision to make The Ruiner the best record possible required each member of the band to try new things, to break old habits and to learn a great deal about their respective instruments and working together as a band. The result was 9 new tracks that fully showcase the individual and collective talents of the quartet. The Ruiner is tumultuous, violent, vicious, introspective, sweet, massive, complex and raw all at once – qualities only hinted at in small doses in the first two releases.
The band tracked and mixed the 9 new songs with producer/engineer Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Converge, Pelican, Daughters, Thalia Zedek, Old Man Gloom, Unsane) of Translator Audio in Brooklyn. The album also features guest appearances by Jason Watkins (keyboards, Mouth of the Architect) and Greg Burns (Pedal Steel, Red Sparowes). |

Post-metal icons ISIS have been confirmed as the headliner of the Friday Roadburn Festival date — April 18, 2008 — at the 013 Club in Tilburg, The Netherlands.
Currently celebrating their 10th anniversary as a band, the Boston-to-Los Angeles transplants will help fans take part in their milestone anniversary by releasing their entire catalog in one deluxe 12 vinyl-LP box set, and their headlining slot at Roadburn 2008.
Throughout the years, ISIS have maintained their position in the vanguard of post-metal by consistently exploding the idiomatic strictures that have defined heavy music with each successive release. Roadburn reveres ISIS and feel they warrant discussion alongside such established pioneers as NEUROSIS and CELTIC FROST.
The 13th annual Roadburn Festival will take place April 18-19, 2008. Swiss outfit Knut has solidified its line-up in the wake of the departure of guitarist Jeremy Tavernier several months ago. First the group added a guitarist named Tim. Now, most recently, a friend of Tim's by the name of Christian has also joined the band.
Here's a comment from the band: "We found a hard-working dude willing to take the chance. His name is Christian, he's an old friend of Tim's and he seems to be working out fine. He's got his own gear, he's got a sound and can play fast. Plus he's alarmingly mellow and will be a father for a second time this summer. So it looks like we're a functioning band again, a goddamn five-piece ready to shred - live and hopefully on record before Bush gets kicked out of office..." |

16-01-06 - YOB Call it quits !
Eugene, Oregon-based doom metal band YOB have called it quits. An official statement from the group's founding member Mike Scheidt reads as follows: "I regret to say that YOB is disbanding after almost 10 years of existence. The time we spent with YOB exceeded our wildest expectations and hopes and it has truly been a dream come true. Travis Foster and Isamu Sato left the band in July, and I have been trying to decide what to do for the last six months. YOB has had three other line-ups, but this one was the best. At the end of the day the best thing for YOB is to call it a day. "I want to thank everyone who has been supportive to YOB over the years....labels, bands, fans, the venues, our families....without you none of this would have been possible. I will be working on a new band called AGE that will very much be in the vein of YOB, with some new twists. Until then, be well and stay HEAVY! ENDLESS DOOM!!!" Electric Turn To Me from NYC have mutually decided to break up !
The band had spent the last year working on their debut full length which will 'as it seems' not be released .
The complete album can however be downloaded for free over here.
We will miss them and hope they will sometime soon have other projects going .

Augusta, GA @ LOKAL LOUDNESS LIVE-
minutes before our set was to start we are told we can't play, better yet we aren't getting paid. After a series of fantastic arguements between the owners and Andrea, one of the owners of this club swings a baseball bat at andrea. It was more of a move to scare her than injure her, either way she runs outside to call the cops.
If that wasn't bad enough another one of the owners starts pushing over our equipment. He was inturn knocked to the ground by a member of our tourmates READ YELLOW. After being pushed to the ground he pulls out a gun and points it at the guitarist for READ YELLOW and I.
We got out unharmed but still needed the cops to get our gear from the club. We never found out why we were cancelled, and better yet... we were never paid. sick times! |
